DHAKA, July 29 (BSS) - The government today fixed timing for
offices during the holy month of Ramadan.
A meeting of the cabinet today decided that all government,
semi- government, autonomous and semi-autonomous offices would
remain open from 9 am to 3:30 pm with a 15-minute break from 1:15
pm for Zohr prayers from Sunday to Thursday.
The cabinet meeting was held at Bangladesh Secretariat with
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, PM's Press Secretary
Abdul Kalam Azad told journalists.
Banks, insurance, other financial institutions, post
offices, railway, hospitals, state-run industries, factories and
other emergency services will fix their office hours as per their
respective laws considering public interest.
The Supreme Court will fix the office timing for itself and
its subordinate courts.
Besides, the cabinet meeting approved drafts of laws to make
Bangladesh Infrastructure Fund into a company, Climate Change
Trust Act 2010, Administrative Tribunal (Amendment) Act 2010
The meeting was told that Bangladesh Infrastructure Fund has
been turned into a company to increase investment to attain
expected growth.
The government has taken various steps to attract private
investments in power generation, development of energy sector,
transport infrastructure development.
Activities are also going on to attract private investment
under Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
The cabinet took a decision to form a new fund named
Bangladesh Infrastructure Financing Fund to attract private
investment for big infrastructures. The approved capital of the
fund would be Taka 10,000 crore and its paid up capital Taka
1,600 crore.
The BIFF has already been formed following the approval of
the finance minister. The company would have a seven-member
governing body and the size could be increased, if needed.
Cabinet members, PM's advisers, state ministers, cabinet
division, other secretaries concerned and PM's press secretary
were present at the meeting.
