JS committee asks to reopen closed hospital in tea garden

DHAKA, Jan 11, 2017 (BSS)- Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Social Welfare at a meeting here today asked authorities concerned to reopen the closed hospital in tea garden areas under Srimongal upazilla of Moulavibazar district.

The recommendation was made at its 26th meeting with committee chairman M Mozammel Hossain in the chair. Committee members Monoranjan Shil Gopal, Ayesha Ferdous, M Abdul Matin and Begum Lutfa Taher attended it.

The committee asked to reopen the hospital recently visited by the standing committee members.

It also recommended for setting up of government primary and higher secondary schools, improving supply of electricity and drinking water and sanitation facilities in the tea garden areas. The committee also asked to provide grants at private orphanages there.

Additional secretary to the ministry, director general of Social Welfare Directorate and concerned officials of Jatiya Sangsad were present.
