President to invite more political parties for talks

DHAKA, Jan 11, 2017 (BSS)- Some more political parties will be invited in Bangabhaban next week for talks with President Abdul Hamid over formation of the Election Commission (EC).

"Some more registered political parties will be invited for talks with the President next week," President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS today.

President Abdul Hamid initiated the formal talks with political parties about the EC formation through holding discussions with BNP on December 18 last year.

He so far held meetings with 23 political parties.

The President took the dialogue initiative as the tenure of the current CEC Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad-led EC expires in February.
