Polls on time, no concession to militants: Inu

DHAKA, Feb 17, 2017(BSS)-Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, MP, said yesterday that elections would be held on time and there would be no concession to militants.

"There would be no consideration for militancy during the electoral process," he said.

He was speaking at a memorial meeting for Kazi Aref Ahmed on his 18th death anniversary at the Mirpur Martyrs' Graveyard.

Kazi Aref was one of the designers of the national flag and an organizer of the Liberation War.

Earlier, the national flag was flown at half-mast and the minister laid floral wreaths at Kazi Aref's graveyard.

Chaired by Mainur Rahman, president of Dhaka west, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD),the meeting was also addressed by general secretary of the party, Shirin Akhter, MP and other party leaders.

Eelier, at the secretariat of Bangladesh information minister, Hasanul Haq Inu,MP, met the chief information commissioner of Nepal, Krishna Hari Baskota.

They discussed ways to improve information rights in the two countries in light of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the two countries on Wednesday.

Also at the Secretariat office of the information minister, Hasanul Haq Inu, MP,the mayor of Luton, UK, paid a courtesy call.

The minister inquired about the situation of expatriate Bengalis, trade and other issues in the post-Brexit era with the mayor.
