DHAKA, March 20, 2017 (BSS) - Bangladesh permanent mission to the United Nations (UN) in New York has organized a daylong programme yesterday marking the 97th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Child Day 2017.
More than several hundred bangalee children living in the United States were participated in the programme.
The first phase of the daylong programme began through the child art competition in the morning. After the art competition, the participants took part at a quiz programme.
A documentary on the life and works of Father of the Nation was screened at the beginning of the session.
Then the messages of the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs also were read out.
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki attended the programme as the chief guest while Women and Children Affairs Secretary Nasima Begum was present as the special guest.
Marking the day, Ambassador and permanent Bangladesh Representative to the UN Masud Bin Momen introduced the discussion.
Huge number of expatriates including leaders and activists from the United States Awami League and its front organizations, media representatives and eminent citizens of the New York, among others, were attended.
