Govt. provides necessary support to flood affected people: Hanif

DHAKA, April 21, 2017 (BSS)-Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif today said the government is providing necessary support to the flood affected people in haor areas.

"The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed to continue the distribution of relief among the affected people till their rehabilitation," he told a press conference at AL President's office in city's Dhanmondi.

AL organizing secretaries Ahmed Hossain and Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Information and Research Secretary Advocate Afzal Hossain, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Agriculture and Cooperative Secretary Faridunnahar Laily and Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rokeya Sultana, among others, were present.

Responding to BNP's claim that the government was not doing anything for the people of affected haor regions, Hanif said instead of undertaking any efforts for mitigating sufferings of the haor people the party has resorted to falsehood basing on sorrows of the people which is shameful for politics.

He said, "Our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given directives to the concerned authorities to extend all necessary support to the flood affected people."

"President Abdul Hamid also visited the affected areas," Hanif said, adding that Relief and Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury is now staying there.

The AL leader expressed the hope that the BNP will shun falsehood and cooperative with the development activities of the government.

He also hoped that the BNP will participate in the next general elections.
