EC announces realistic roadmap for next nat'l polls: Tofail

DHAKA, July 17, 2017 (BSS) - Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed yesterday urged all parties to take preparations for taking part in the next national election lauding the Election Commission's (EC) announcement of a realistic roadmap for holding the polls in a free and fair manner.

"Like India, the United Kingdom, the United State of America and Canada, EC is responsible for conducting elections," he told the journalists at secretariat in the city.

Responding to the BNP's demand for supportive government during election time, the commerce minister said illogical and unconstitutional demand will not be accepted and the next election will be held under the present government.

"We will not accept, if anyone proposes any unconstitutional proposal," he added.

The minister also hoped that BNP would be able to realize its fault regarding the party's non participation in 2014 national polls.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda today unveiled the EC roadmap for the next (11th) parliamentary election at a function in the city.
