Pro-AL lawyers announce programme over constitutional amendment verdict

DHAKA, Aug 12, 2017 (BSS) - Pro-Awami League lawyers' body Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad today announced a three-day programme protesting the court verdict that declared illegal the 16th constitutional amendment.

As per the programme, all units of the Parishad will stage demonstrations on August 13, 16 and 17 throughout the country .

Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad Member Secretary Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh announced the programme at a press conference at the Awami League president's political office at Dhanmondi.

Bar Council Vice-Chairman and Awami League advisory council member Adv. Abdul Baset Majumder, Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad convener Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun, Awami League Legal Affairs Secretary SM Rezaul Karim, Food Minister Advocate Qamrul Islam and AL Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua, among others, were present on the occasion.

Humayun, in the press conference, said their stand is not against the court. "Some irrelevant remarks are there in the verdict which is not accepted to the countrymen," he added.
