Canadian HC pays farewell call on President

DHAKA, Aug 13, 2017 (BSS) - President M Abdul Hamid hoped that bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and Canada would further be boosted in days ahead as Canadian High Commissioner Benoit-Pierre Lramee made a farewell call on him at Bangabhaban here today.

"President Hamid expressed satisfaction over the existing excellent bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Canada which are being enhanced day by day," President's Press Secretary M Joynal Abedin told journalists.

The President congratulated the Canadian envoy on completion of his successful tenure in Bangladesh and recalled with gratitude the contribution of Canada to Bangladesh's Liberation War in 1971.

Noting that Canada is a tested friend of Bangladesh and also an important development partner, Abdul Hamid said, "Canada has a significant area of export trade and the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Canada will reach a new height in future."

During the meeting, the outgoing high commissioner expressed his gratitude to the President for extending cooperation to him in discharging his duty here.

"People-to-people connection between Canada and Bangladesh is very strong," he added.

Secretaries concerned to the President were present.
