Bangladesh to be middle income country before 2021: Kamal

DHAKA, Sept 13, 2017 (BSS)-Bangladesh will become a middle income country before 2021, said planning minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.

"We are hopeful that our dream of becoming a middle income country will be fulfilled before 2021," said the minister while speaking at the launching ceremony of an economic news paper 'Ajker Business Bangladesh' at a city hotel yesterday.

Editor of the daily Mehedi Hasan presided over the programme while secretary of bank and financial institution division of the Finance Ministry Dr Eunusur Rahman, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia, Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation (BHBFC) managing director Debashish Chakbabarty, among others, spoke on the occasion.

Planning minister said Bangladesh needs to use its youth force to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 and for this reason, the government is emphasizing on building technology based education system. To this end, the government is taking up new projects, he added.

Kamal urged the mass media to play a role for the economic development of the country by publishing more positive and objective reports.
