Bringing qualitative change in politics doesn't go with Khaleda: Quader

DHAKA, Nov 14, 2017 (BSS) - Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader yesterday said the talks of bringing qualitative change in politics do not go with BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

"Those who are involved in corruption talk much about ethics. Bringing qualitative change in politics does not go with those who initiated the wicked politics and patronized communal and terrorist activities," he said.

Quader, also minister for road transport and bridges, was addressing a jubilant gathering of journalists at Jatiya Press Club auditorium marking the UNESCO recognition to the historic 7th March Speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as part of the world's documentary heritage.

Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of
Journalists (DUJ) organised the function while Prime Minister's Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Dhaka University former Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, Dainik Samakal Editor Golam Sarwar, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Kamrul Hasan Khan, Jatiya Press Club General Secretary Farida Yasmin, BFUJ Secretary General Omar Faruque and DUJ President Shaban Mahmood, among others, addressed the function.

BFUJ President Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul chaired the function while DUJ General Secretary Sohel Haider Chowdhury conducted it.

Quader said Bangabandhu's 7th March Speech was property of Bangalee nation. After the UNESCO recognition, the landmark speech has become a
property of the world.

About the seven-day programme of Awami League marking the UNESCO
recognition to the speech, Quader said considering the matter of public suffering, the civic rally has been rescheduled to the next Saturday instead of November 9.

"We have organizationally decided to hold meetings and rallies on
weekends Friday and Saturday considering the matter of public sufferings," he added.

Quader requested Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu to find out a way to solve the matter of the formation of 9th wage-board for journalists.
