Technology can cut corruption in land management: minister

DHAKA, Nov 14, 2017 (BSS) - Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif said that corruption could be eliminated by using modern technology in the country's land management.

"An institute for land reform and training is very much needed as the country is lagging behind in modern technology-oriented training," he said as the chief guest while inaugurating the 12-storey expansion project from sixth floor of Land Administration Training Center in Kantaban here.

"There is no inclusion of land related topic in any curriculum of the educational institutions as many civil service officials face troubles for not having knowledge about this sector," the minister observed.

Chairman of Land Reform Board (Secretary) Mahfuzur Rahman, Project Director of Land Administration Training Center Shahed Sabur and other senior officials of the ministry were present, among others, at the meeting with Land Secretary MA Jalil in the chair.

Sharif said modern land development works have started in the country following directives of the Prime Minister and the project works ares expected to complete within the stipulated time.
