27 lakh blankets sent towards cold-hit people: Maya

CHANDPUR, Jan 6, 2018 (BSS) - Relief and Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Bir Bikram, today said as many as 27 lakh pieces of blankets have been sent towards cold-hit people across the country.

The Minister said this while he was distributing blankets among cold-hit poor people in Matlab Uttar and Matlab Dakshin Upazilas of the district. Some 14,000 pieces of blankets were distributed in the two upazilas, said a press release of Relief and Disaster Management Ministry today.

The minister said among the 27 lakh blankets, 18 lakh were allotted from the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund.

He requested the lawmakers to distribute all blankets among the cold-hit poor people quickly.

Matlab Dakshin Upazila Awami League President AH Gias and General Secretary BH Kabir, Matlab Uttar Upazila Chairman Manjur Ahmed Manju and General Secretary MA Quddus were present.
