BGB-BSF regional conference starts in Rangpur

DHAKA, Jan 08, 2018 (BSS) - A four-day regional conference of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) started in Rangpur yesterday, an official release of BGB said here.

Additional Director General (ADG) of BGB and Regional Commander of South-Western Zone, Jessore Brig Gen Kazi Toufiqul Islam led the 18-member Bangladesh delegation while Dr Rajesh Kumar Mishra, IG, North Bengal Frontier, led the 8-member Indian delegation at the conference.

The Bangladesh delegation includes Regional Commander North-Western Zone, Rangpur, Brig Gen AKM Saiful Islam and six sector commanders.

The conference will mainly discuss the issues of bilateral interest such as killing of Bangladeshi people by the BSF at borders, illegal infiltration into Bangladesh territory by the BSF personnel and Indian citizens, arrest of Bangladeshi nationals by the BSF, and smuggling of goods, illegal firearms-ammunition and illegal drugs.
