DIG Mizanur Rahman withdrawn from DMP: Asaduzzaman

DHAKA, Jan 10, 2018 (BSS) - Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said yesterday Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police Mizanur Rahman has been removed from the post of Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) over allegations of marrying a woman forcefully.

"Reports about him (DIG Mizanur Rahman) have been published on different newspapers and we have attached him to the Police Headquarters for the sake of a proper investigation into the matter," he told the media at Police Week-2018 function here yesterday.

"Formal investigation against DIG Mizan will be started after completion of the Police Week-2018 programmes," he said and hoped that the truth behind the incident would come out after the investigation.

Earlier, a woman at Panthapath in the capital city earlier alleged that DIG Mizan married her forcibly and tortured her several times after she posted a picture on the facebook identifying him (DIG Mizan) as her husband and sent her to the jail after implicating her in two false cases.

But, the police official denied the allegations terming the woman as a fraud.
