DHAKA, Jan 11, 2018 (BSS) - The Supreme Court this afternoon stayed a High Court (HC) order, which had stayed BTRC circular that sought application for taking part in spectrum auction for 4G mobile phone service, till January 14.
The Chamber Judge court of the Appellate Division came up with the order within hours of passing of the High Court order against the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) circular.
Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain of the Chamber Judge court passed the order, sending the matter to Appellate Division full bench for further hearing.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Zafar Ahmed earlier in the day passed the order after holding hearing on a writ petition filed in this regard.
The court had also issued a rule asking BTRC to explain why the court shall not declare the circular illegal.
Wireless internet provider Banglalion Communications Limited filed the writ, terming the circular contrary to the broadband guideline, 2008.
The telecom regulatory body was scheduled to issue 4G license on February 14 after holding of spectrum auction for three different bands on February 13.
