DHAKA, Jan 11, 2018 (BSS) - The first Namaz-e-Janaza of M Matiur Rahman, former communication minister, was held at the South Plaza of the Jatiyo Sangsad Bhaban here today.
Deputy Speaker M Fazle Rabbi Miah, Chief Whip ASM Feroz placed wreaths on Rahman's coffin. Jatiya Party law maker M Mamunur Rashid also placed wreaths on the coffin on behalf of leader of the opposition Begum Raushan Ershad.
A munajat was also offered seeking eternal peace of the departed soul, an official release said here today.
Among others, present and former parliamentarians as well as officials and employees of parliament secretariat attended the janaza.
The second Namaz-e-Janaza of Rahman will be held tomorrow (January 12, Tuesday) after Juma prayers at Gulshan Azad Mosque.
He will be buried at his ancestral graveyard at Joykul, Kaukhali, Pirojpur, following third Namaz-e-Janaza at Kaukhali College Masjid ground after Asr prayers on January 13.
M Matiur Rahman died of old age complications on January 09, Tuesday at a private hospital in the capital. He was 95.
