Next polls in December: Tofail

BHOLA, Jan 12 2018 (BSS) - Awami League Advisory Council Member and Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed yesterday said the general election would be held in next December and urged the AL leaders and activists to work together for the party.

Tofail Ahmed was addressing the commemorative meeting of Tazumuddin Upazila Parishad Chairman and Upazila Awami League Secretary Ahid Ullah Zasim Hawlader. Member of the Parliament from the local constituency Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shawn presided over the meeting at Upazila stadium.

Recalling the contribution of late Ahid Ullah, he said the then BNP-Jamaat alliance government after the national election in 2001 tortured Ahid Ullah that forced him to leave Bhola.

He recalled the contribution of Ahid Ullah and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

Turing on the development works in Bhola, he said the district has huge gas reserve and industries would be set up using this gas that would also generate employment.

AL Organizing Secretary A F M Bahauddin Nasim, MP, Deputy Minister for Environment and Forest Abdullah Al Jabcob, MP, Ali Azam Mukul, MP, Zila Parishad Chairman Abdul Mamin Tulu and Upazila AL President Fakhrul Alam Jahangir, among others, also spoke.


Ahid Ullah died on December 31 in a Singapore hospital.
