DHAKA, May 16, 2018 (BSS) - Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Choudhury and leaders of 14-Party combine have greeted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on successful launching of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 to the space.
Speaker Shirin Sharmin and a delegation of the 14-Party combine, led by its convener Mohammad Nasim, greeted the Prime Minister by presenting a bouquet of flowers at her official residence Gonobhaban tonight.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said Bangabandhu Satellite-1 would help reach internet services to remote areas, accelerating rural development.
The premier congratulated the countrymen saying her government has adopted many short-, medium- and long-term projects for the country's real development. Successful implementation of the long-term plans made it possible to the launching of the satellite, she said.
Sheikh Hasina reiterated her firm commitment to make Bangladesh a poverty-free nation by 2021 and build it a developed one by 2041. "Bangabandhu Satellite was one-step forward to that goal," she said.
Bangladesh's first geostationary communications satellite- 'Bangabandhu Satellite-1' was successfully launched to the space on May 12 from Nasa Space Center in Florida.
