India keens to support RU

RAJSHAHI, May 17, 2017 (BSS) - Indian Government is interested to extend support in education, research and cultural activities of Rajshahi University (RU).

Assistant Indian High Commissioner in Rajshahi Abhijit Chattapadhaya made this observation while on a courtesy call with RU Vice-chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan at latter's office here today.

Appreciating the proposal Prof Sobhan expected that the existing bilateral relation between Bangladesh and India will be furthermore improved and intensified for welfare of both the countries through such type of cooperation in the days ahead.

He said people to people connection of the two countries should be enhanced for better understanding, bilateral relations and regional communications for economic prosperity. Not only tourism, the relations may be improved through cultural, sports and other arenas.

Abhijit Chattapadhaya categorically said in no way the relation between Bangladesh and India can be broken as they have a friendly bridge. The long-lasting enclave problem has been removed.

He mentioned that the existing visa problems are going to be removed.
Necessary and effective measures were adopted for quick disposal of the related problems.
