Daylong ICT carrier camp held at RU

RAJSHAHI, May 17, 2017 (BSS)- A daylong Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) Career Camp-2017 was held on the campus of Rajshahi
University (RU) here today.

The slogan of the event was "Digital Bangladeshe Amra Durbar" (We Are Unstoppable in Digital Bangladesh).

Digital Bangladesh and Bangladesh Computer Council under the ICT Division arranged the daylong event in association with World Bank's Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance Project. The objectives of the camp were to inspire degree-level students and provide them with ICT-related trainings, including outsourcing, so that they could earn money along with academic studies.

RU Vice-Chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan inaugurated the camp as the chief guest. Director of ICT Centre Professor Khademul Islam Mollah and Students' Adviser Prof Mijanur Rahman, among others, spoke on the occasion.

While speaking at the function, Prof Abdus Sobhan urged the students to take the training with enthusiasm to attain cherished goal of the project.

The VC added that the government was implementing the programme across the country to create opportunities for students so that they could earn foreign currency through online outsourcing.

VC Prof Sobhan also said the youth forces had already started building Digital Bangladesh through their learning and earning activities.

He said the present government with dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was extending all-out supports towards them so that they could build themselves as ICT-based income-generators.

Over 1,000 students of the public university joined the daylong camp spontaneously.
