RANGPUR, Aug 09, 2017 (BSS) - Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib, wife of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, never allowed Bangabandhu to get upset or disturbed during the days of long struggles for independence.
"Bangamata properly suggested Bangabandhu during crucial times and that's why we have achieved independence," said Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR), Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, BTFO, at a discussion here last night as the chief guest.
Paying rich tribute to Bangamata, Professor Kalimullah also discussed various aspects of her life and said the nation will remember Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib forever for her unparallel sacrifice during the whole political life of Bangabandhu.
The authority of Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib Hall organised the discussion at the hall auditorium on the life, deeds and sacrifice of Bangamata to struggles for independence in celebrations of her 87th birth anniversary.
The BRUR units of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Bangabandhu Parishad and Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib Hall chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the birth anniversary of Bangamata on the campus.
Leaders of BRUR unit of BCL placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangamata at 6:30 pm, authorities of Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib Hall placed wreath at her portrait at 7:30 pm and Bangabandhu Parisahd organised milad and doa mahfils at Central Mosque of the university at 9:30 pm.
The vice-chancellor attended all of the programmes and discussion organised separately by different organisations and authorities on the campus.
With provost of Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib Hall Professor Dr Sharifa Salowa Dina in the chair, registrar of the university Muhammad Ibrahim Kabir and assistant provosts of the hall, among others, addressed the discussion.
Convener of BRUR unit of Bangabandhu Parisahd Professor Dr RM Hafizur Rahman, its member-secretary Mashiur Rahman, president of Begum Rokeya University Teachers' Association Associate Professor Dr Abu Saleh Mohammad Wadudur Rahman, among others, took part in the milad doa mahfils moderated by Imam cum Khatib of the university's Central Mosque Rakib Uddin Ahmmed.
After placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangamata, president of BRUR unit of BCL Abu Monnaf Al Kibria Tushar said the unparallel sacrifice of Bangamata during the uneven and tough political life of Bangabandhu will remain immortal in our national history.
