DHAKA, April 11, 2018 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood today said no more corruption will be tolerated in the education sector.
"We will not tolerate corruption in the education sector," he said as the chief guest while addressing an award giving ceremony among the best members of corruption prevention committees at district and upazila levels, at Jashore Circuit House auditorium.
Describing teachers as respected personalities of the society, he posed a question, "Why the teachers would have to pay bribes for their transfer?"
The ACC chief stressed the need for stopping coaching centres and said, "We should stop making education as a commodity and the teachers could play a vital role in doing so with bringing back the education in the classrooms."
Additional Khulna Divisional Commissioner Faruk Hossain presided over the function. Among others, director of ACC's Khulna office, Abul Hossain, president of Narail Corruption Prevention Committee, Moniruzzaman Mallick, its Kushtia's Doulatpur Upazila president Nazrul Islam, and Satkhira's Kalaroa Upazila Committee president Akhter Asaduzzaman, were present on the occasion.
