RANGPUR, May 13, 2017 (BSS) - Academicians, literary and cultural personalities at a discussion here have called for further enriching Bengali literature and culture to eliminate social curses like militancy and terrorism.
They were addressing the discussion arranged at Town Hall auditorium on Friday afternoon in observance of the 40th founding anniversary of renowned literary and cultural organisation Abhijatrik Shahittya Sangskriti Sangshad,Rangpur (ASSSR).
The ASSSR chalked out elaborate day-long programmes, including literary 'Littlemag' festival', gathering of literary personalities, recitation of poems, staging of drama and colourful cultural evening.
Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Narayan Chandra Barma attended the ceremony as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the day-long programmes by cutting a cake along with ASSSR executives and invited guests.
Rangpur Regional Director of Bangladesh Betar Sayed Mostafa Kamal and Principal of Rangpur Law College Sajed Hossain Tota addressed the occasion as special guests and General Secretary of ASSSR Sayed Sahedul Islam moderated it.
Former Vice-principal of Pabna Cadet College Rakibul Hassan Bulbul, writer Rezaul Karim Mukul, Editor of the literary magazine 'Liitlemag' Saroz Deb,Professor Dr Sorifa Salowa Dina, Nuclear scientist Dr Jashim Uddin Ahmed and President of ASSSR Advocate M A Basher Tipu were present, among others.
Besides, a large number of writers, poets, literary and cultural personalities, civil society members, socio-cultural activists, academicians and local elite attended the discussion and other functions.
The chief guest called upon the literary personalities for their innovative contributions to further enrich Bengali literature and cultureto build a non-communal, peaceful and developed society free from terrorism and militancy.
The other discussants narrated the enormous literary and cultural deeds of the brilliant sons of the soil in enriching Bengali literature.
