DHAKA, May 14, 2017 (BSS) - Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad has celebrated the 156th birth anniversary of Nobel Laureate Poet Rabindranath Tagore and 118th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam in a befitting manner.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan Tarik Ahsan inaugurated the function saying both Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam championed humanity and social reforms while giving expression to the emotions and feelings of the individual in a refined and artistic manner.

He added that both the poets had a profound relation with the then East Bengal, now Bangladesh, and that life of people of East Bengal shaped their literary creations to a great extent.

The works of these two poets were a great source of inspiration for the freedom fighters during the War of Liberation of Bangladesh in 1971, he said.
