Mild heat wave sweeps over country

DHAKA, May 12, 2017 (BSS) - A mild heat wave is sweeping over Khulna division and the region of Rajshahi and it may continue, said a press release of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today.

It said, "Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka and Khulna divisions and the regions of Comilla and Noakhali. Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country."

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Besides, a warning message of BMD this noon said, "In association with rain or thunder showers, temporary west or north-westerly gusty or squally wind speed 45-60kph is likely to occur over the regions of Rajshahi, Rangpur, Pabna, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Comilla, Noakhali and Sylhet wherein river ports shall be hoisted cautionary signal no one."

Today's sunset at Dhaka would be at 6:33 pm and tomorrow's sunrise here would be at 5:17 am, the release added.

Met office recorded today's highest temperature 37.2 degree Celsius at Jessore while the lowest one 21.8 degree Celsius at Tarash under Rajshahi division.
