Light to moderate rain likely

DHAKA, Sept 10, 2017 (BSS) - Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at places in the country in 24 hours as of 9 am tomorrow.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Chittagong, Mymensingh, Rangpur and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barisal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country in next 24 hours commencing from 9 am today," said a Met office press release issued here today.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal to Assam across northern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends to North Bay, the release added.

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay, it said.

Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.

Country's maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded 36.0 degree Celsius at Jessore in Khulna division and today's minimum temperature 23.4 degree Celsius at Rangamati in Chittagong division.

The country's highest rainfall during the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded 85 millimeters (mm) in Sylhet.

The sun sets at 6.08 pm today and rises at 5.43 am tomorrow in the capital.
