'Pakistan, collaborators spreading falsehood about Liberation War'

DHAKA, March 27, 2016 (BSS) - Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique today said Pakistan and their collaborators are still spreading falsehood about the 1971 Liberation War.

"One former prime minister of this country, some former ministers and politicians are making derogatory remarks about the Liberation War taking the side of Pakistan," he said, according to a press release of DU.

The vice-chancellor was inaugurating a daylong seminar on "Liberation War and Trial of War Criminals" organized by Dhaka University Centre for Advanced Research in Humanities at its Mamtazur Rahman Tarafdar seminar room on the campus.

Professor Arefin called upon the youths to resist those who are demeaning the Liberation War and creating debate about the total figure of martyrs of the war.

Professor of History Department Dr Abu Mohammad Delwar Hossain presented an article on "Trial of 195 Pakistani war criminals: Feedback from rest of the world".

In his article, Prof Hossain said Pakistani agents were established in Bangladesh and even they became policymakers after 1975.

During the tenure of BNP, they (agents) became president, prime minister and cabinet members. Because of that reason, they dared to make remarks against the Liberation War, martyrs, independence and sovereignty of the country, he added.

In the second session, Professor of History Department Dr Ashfaq Hossain presented an article on "Bangladesh Liberation War and International Feedback" while Assistant Professor of Islamic History and Culture Department Mahmudur Rahman presented another article on "Role of Dhaka University teachers in Liberation War".
