Rangpur to observe March 7

RANGPUR, March 05, 2017 (BSS) - Awami League (AL), its associate bodies and different organisations here have chalked out daylong elaborate programmes to observe the historic March 7 on Tuesday next in the district.

The district and upazila units of AL, its associate bodies including Chhatra League, Jubo League, Swechchasebak League (SSL), Krishak League, Sramik League, socio-cultural and professional organisations have chalked out programmes to observe the day.

The programmes include discussion meetings,hoisting of the national and party flags at district and upazila AL offices, placing wreaths at portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and four national leaders.

The epoch-making historic March 7 speech of Bangabandhu at the Race Course Maidan, now Suhrawardy Uddyan, will be played in all district and upazila headquarters and important places all over the district.

The main discussion meeting will be held at the party's district unit office in Betpotti area of the city with Acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed in the chair.

Zila Parisahd Chairman Advocate Chhafia Khanom, General Secretary of district AL Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, city AL President Shafiur Rahman Shafi and General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal, will take part in the discussion, among others.

Vice-president of city AL Shah Md Nabiullah Panna told BSS that the speakers in the main discussion meeting would highlight importance of the March 7 speech of Bangabandhu in the history of Bangladesh and War of Liberation.

"The day will be observed with a fresh vow to consolidate national unity in building a developed 'Sonar Bangla' as dreamt by Bangabandhu under leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to make independence meaningful for every citizen," Panna added.
