CHITTAGONG, Jan 03, 2017 (BSS) - A 5.5 magnitude mild earthquake that rocked the port city and districts of Chittagong hill tracts was severely felt by the people and triggered huge panic among the city residents.
The jolt of the tremor was felt at 3.15 pm today, Met office sources said.
US Geological Survey pinpointed the 5.5 magnitude earthquake at 19 kilometres northeast of Ambasa region of neighbouring Tripura state of India.
However, panicked people rushed out of their residences and came to their nearby roads following the jolts.
No casualties and damages were reported till the filling of this report.
