RANGPUR, Jan 4, 2017 (BSS)- Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) here today celebrated its 69th founding anniversary with a fresh call for making Bangladesh a technologically-advanced modern country free from terrorism and militancy.
The district and city units of BCL observed daylong programmes, including hoisting of national and party flags, playing Bangabandhu's Historic March 7 Speech, placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, blood donation, cutting cakes, illumination of the district BCL office in the evening and cultural functions.
The district and city units of BCL brought out separate colourful processions in the town joined by thousands of leaders and activists of BCL, Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies here.
With District unit President of BCL Mehedee Hassan Rony in the chair, Member of the Parliament form reserved constituency Advocate Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia attended the main discussion held at Zila School auditorium as the chief guest.
Newly-elected Zila parisahd Chairman Advocate Safia Khanom, General Secretary of city AL Tushar Kanti Mandal, Publicity Secretary of district AL Rosy Rahman, addressed the discussion as special guests.
Presidents and General Secretaries of BCL units of all eight upazilas, Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur Carmichael College, Rangpur Medical College, Rangpur Government College and other institutions also spoke.
General Secretary of district unit of BCL Rakibul Hassan Kanon moderated the main discussion participated by the leaders and activists of BCL from all over the district.
The speakers recalled glorious past and contribution of BCL and urged its leaders and activists to work imbued with ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in building Sonar Bangla as dreamt by him.
They vowed for turning Bangladesh into a middle income nation by 2021 and developed nation by 2041 to make the independence meaningful by foiling the conspiracies.
The chief guest called upon leaders and activists of BCL for upholding its glorious past to further strengthen hands of Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina in building a developed Bangladesh free from militancy and terrorism.
