28 held in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, Jan 05, 2017 (BSS)- Police, in special drives from Wednesday night to this morning, arrested 28 persons, including one activist of Jamaat-e-Islami, and recovered two-kg ganja from seven upazilas of the district.

Sources with the district police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.

The sources said, during the drives, Satkhira Sadar police arrested 11 persons, Kalaroa police five, Tala police two, Kaliganj police two, Shyamnagar police two, Assasuni police five including the Jamaat activist and Debhata police one accused.

Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.

Assasuni police recovered the ganja in a drive during the period.

The arrested were sent to jail this morning.
