Road mishap kills an education officer in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Jan 8, 2017 (BSS) - An assistant education officer was killed and a teacher was injured when a truck knocked them down at Devipur crossing under Tanore Upazila of the district.

The deceased was identified as Maksuda Ekram, 37. She was Assistant Upazila Education Officer in Tanore Upazila. Akkash Ali, 40, a teacher of Chapra Govt. Primary School, was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital with grievous injuries.

Officer-in-Charge of Tanore Police Station Mirja Abdus Salam said they met the tragic accident when they were returning to office after visiting the school riding on a motorbike around 3.15 pm.

Police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue for post mortem.

Police also arrested the driver with his truck in Chapainawabgonj district.
