Development fair begins in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Jan 9, 2017 (BSS) - A 3-day long development fair began in the district as elsewhere in the country today with the theme "Democracy for Development is the Key Motto of Sheikh Hasina".

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formally inaugurated the fair on Monday afternoon around 3.30 pm through video conference.

The main objective of the fair is to focus the various development activities and its success before the people and incorporate them with government's development activities, office sources said.

To identify local problems and formulate plans and their implementation ideas through mutual discussions among public representatives, political leaders, government officials and distinguished people are the purposes of holding the fair.

A total of 56 stalls of 80 government departments including NGOs had been set up in the fair that would open for the visitor everyday from 3 pm to 9 pm. Earlier, a post rally discussion was also held on Independence Square of the town in the morning around 11 am with deputy commissioner M. Abdus Samad in the chair.

Whip of the Jatiya Sangshad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini addressed the meeting as the chief guest and principal of Gaibandha Govt. College professor Zahidul Haque, civil surgeon Dr. Nirmalendu Chowdhury, mayor of Gaibandha Municipality Advocate Shah Masud Jahangir Kabir Milon and additional police super Abdullah Al Faruque were present as the event as special guests.
