Man to die for killing his wife in Manikganj

MANIKGANJ, Jan 10, 2017 (BSS) - A court here today convicted a man and sentenced him to death for killing his wife at Najirpur village under Singair upazila of the district in 2007.

District and Session Judge Mizanur Rahman Khan handed down the verdict.

Court official said the convicted man was identified as Alamgir Hossain, 34, son of Siddiqur Rahmana, a resident of Bagha upazila in Rajshahi district.

According to the prosecution, Alamgir strangulated to death his wife Mamtaz Begum over a family feud on April 14, 2007.

Anesa Begum, mother of the deceased, filed a case with Singair Police Station on the following day.

Shah Alam Munsi, sub-inspector of the police station and also the investigation officer of the case, submitted a charge sheet against Alamgir.

After examining records and witnesses, the judge handed down the verdict.
