CHITTAGONG, Mar 20, 2017 (BSS) - Law enforcers in riot-gears today conducted raids on two houses on suspicion of militant dens in city's Akbar Shah and Kattoli areas.
Acting on secret information, the law-men cordoned off two houses-- one in CDA residential area of Colonel Hat under Akbar Shah thana and another at Ishan Mohajon Road in South Kattoli area-- around 4:00pm.
Joint teams of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), police along with bomb disposal teams, as part of anti-militancy crack-down, conducted the raids that ended around 6:30pm.
The teams, however, could not arrest anybody or find any explosives from the houses during the two and a half hours raids, said Nazmul Hassan, additional deputy commissioner (west) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police.
The raids were conducted following confessional statements of the suspected militants who were detained in an anti-militancy drive in Sitakunda recently.
Four suspected militants and a six year old child were killed and 20 people rescued during 19 hour long drive codenamed "Assault 16" in Sitakunda Upazila of the district on March 15.
