13 Shibir men held with gun powder, Jihadi books

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, May 19, 2017 (BSS) - Police arrested 13 activists of Islamic Chhatra Shibir, the students' front of Jamaat-e-Islam, with 800 grams of gun powder and over 100 Jihadi books in three separate drives in Chapainawabganj municipality early today.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Thana Saber Reza Ahmed said Shibir activists brought out a procession in Mohananda Bus Stand area yesterday, protesting the verdict against Jamaat leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee.

Later, police arrested the organiser of the procession Shibir leader Al Amin yesterday afternoon.

Based on his statement, a team of police raided a house of one Sadequl Islam at Chandlai Baganpara in the municipality after midnight and arrested seven Shibir men as they were holding a secret meeting there, he added.

In another drive, police from Chapainawabganj Sadar Thana raided a mess at Hujrapur at around 2:30 am and arrested five activists of Shibir with the aforesaid gun powder and revolutionary books.

Two separate cases were filed with the Sadar police station.
