13 Shibir men held with gunpowder, Jihadi books

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, May 19, 2017 (BSS) - Police arrested 13 activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, the students' front of Jamaat-e-Islam, with 800 grams of gunpowder and over 100 Jihadi books in three separate drives in Chapainawabganj municipality.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Thana Saber Reza Ahmed said Shibir activists brought out a procession in Mohananda Bus Stand area yesterday afternoon, protesting the verdict that upheld imprisonment till death against Jamaat leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee.

Later, police arrested Shibir leader Al Amin.

Based on his statement, a team of police from Sadar police station raided a house of one Sadequl Islam at Chandlai Baganpara around 12:30 am and arrested seven Shibir men when they were conducting a secret meeting there, the OC said. In another drive, police raided a mess located at Hujrapur at around 2:30 am and arrested five activists of Shibir with the aforesaid gunpowder and Jihadi books.

Two separate cases were filed with the Sadar police station.
