Two killed in Habiganj clash

HABIGANJ, Aug 12, 2017 (BSS) - At least two people were killed and more than hundred others injured in a clash this morning between two rival groups of villagers over changing the committee and imam of a mosque at village Mugkandi in Bahubal upazila of the district.

The deceased were identified as a UK expatriate Kabir Miah, 45, son of Sabu Miah and Matin Miah, 50, son of late Muslim Miah, both residents of the same area.

Police and local sources said the rival villagers attacked each other after offering Fazr prayers at the mosque. Kabir died on the spot while Matin succumbed to his injuries on way to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
