RAKUB's role vital for helping flood-hit farmers

RAJSHAHI, Sept 13, 2017 (BSS) - Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) has a vital role for helping the flood-affected farmers to recoup their losses in the country's northwest region.

The observation came at RAKUB's 461st Board of Directors meeting held at its board room here on Tuesday with Chairman of the bank Nazrul Islam in the chair, RAKUB officials said.

RAKUB headquartered in Rajshahi, has been operating its banking activities in all the 16 northwest districts of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions targeting its agricultural sector and all its sub-sectors.

The meeting puts emphasis on increasing funding to farmers and women entrepreneurs.

It also mentioned that Bangladesh Bank assured all scheduled banks of providing necessary support for funding farmers and women entrepreneurs.

The meeting noted that the bank's administrative and operational activities must be more transparent and accountable alongside farmers- friendly for boosting agricultural production.

Terming the farmers as the vital force to boost up the agricultural
productions, bank's directors expressed their commitment to protect the farmers' interests as a whole.

RAKUB Managing Director Muin Uddin and Directors Saifuddin Ahmed, Nur-Ur-Rahman, Kazi Hassan Ahmed, Professor Rustam Ali Ahmed, Abdul Hannan, Shah Alam, Abdul Wadud and Mahbubur Rahman were present at the meeting.

The meeting reviewed the overall activities of the bank and took some important decisions relating to its operational and administrative matters.
