Govt. officials distributes warm clothes in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Jan 11, 2018 (BSS) - With the increasing cold wave here, local administration distributed warm clothes to the cold affected poor and distressed people of all the seven upazilas in the district to mitigate their sufferings.

District relief and rehabilitation office sources said the district administration received 61,495 pieces of blankets from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief during this winter season.

Of them, some 56,495 pieces of blankets had been distributed to the cold affected poor and distressed people of the district till January 9 and the rest 5000 are being distributed to the cold victims under the supervision of district and upazila administrations, the sources said.

On Wednesday night around 8 pm, additional secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Dr. Atiqur Rahman distributed 85 pieces of blankets to the cold affected poor people including women and orphans at Kaiyarhat area, near to Balashighat under Fulchhari upazila.

District relief and rehabilitation officer AKM Idris Ali and journalist Sarker M. Shahiduzzaman, freedom fighters, and local elite were present on the occasion.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gautam Chandra Paul said instructions were given to the upazila administrations and local government bodies to distribute the blankets to the victims properly rising all sorts of irregularities.
