Pakistan win Champions Trophy title

DHAKA, June 18, 2017 (BSS) - Absolutely brilliant bowling by Pakistan bowlers made sure the good work done by their batsmen does not go wrong as they outplayed favorites India to thrash them by 180 runs to lift the coveted Champions Trophy title on Sunday at Oval, London.

Earlier banking on Fakhar Zama's 114, Azhar Ali with 59, Mohammad Hafeez with 37-ball 57 not out, Babar Azam 46 and Imad Wasim with 25 not out saw Pakistan piled up a mammoth 338 for 4.

But a brilliant bowling opening burst by Mohammad Amir with 3 for 16 broke the backbone of the famed Indian batting line-up and spinner Shadab Khan picked up 2 for 16 and player of the tournament Hasan Ali 3 for 19 made sure the Indian tail did not wag as India were bundled out 158 in 30.3 overs.

Hardik Pandya lashed out with blazing 76 off 43 balls but sadly he was run out in a mix-up and India tail fell like a nine pin.

Fakhar Zaman playing in his first tournament was named man of the match for his brilliant century.
