Army emerge champions in V-Day Taekwondo

DHAKA, Jan 10, 2018 (BSS)- Bangladesh Army emerged champions in both men and women sections of Walton Victory Day Taekwondo competition beating their respective group rivals in the finals held on Wednesday at National Sports Council gymnasium, said a Bangladesh Taekwondo Federation (BTF) press release today.

In the men senior section, Bangladesh Army beat Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) while they maintained their supremacy in the women senior section as they defeated Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation in the final.

Besides, Gazipur District Sports Association clinched men junior section title beating Rajshahi District Sports Association in the final while Akij Foundation School and College emerged champions in women junior section outplaying Comilla District Sports Association.

Youth and Sports Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Central Committee Harunur Rashid was present as the chief guest on the closing day of the competition and distributed the prizes.

Besides, head of Walton High-tech Industries Limited (sports and welfare) FM Iqbal Bin Anwar was present as special guest.

BTF president Kazi Morshed Hossain Kamal, BTF general secretary Mahmudul Islam Rana and other federation officials were also present on the occasion.

A total of 350 players from the country's different districts, associations and corporations took part in the two-day meet.
