GOPALGANJ, Tungipara, Jan 8, 2023 (BSS) - The Gopalganj district office of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has taken an initiative to bring 454 hectares of marsh land in the district under cultivation.
A decision in this regard was taken at a planning meeting of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Water Development Board and Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) held at the DAE deputy-director's office here today.
The DAE sources said recommendations regarding road construction, use of sluice gates, excavation of canal of the marsh land and cleaning of weeds from canal were made at the meeting.
Alongside fish farming, the DAE has also taken initiative for cultivating Boro rice and vegetables.
Executive engineer of water development board Md Faizur Rahman, Gopalganj BADC executive engineer Azizul Islam and Deputy Director of the DAE in Gopalganj Dr Arvind Kumar Roy attended the meeting.
