SHERPUR, May 16, 2023 (BSS) - The harvesting and threshing of Boro paddy are
nearly completion in the five upazilas of the district in this season.
Farmers of the district are happy after getting high yield of Boro paddy this
year.
Deputy Director of district Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Dr
Shukalpo Das said Boro paddy was cultivated on 91,781 hectares of land with a
production target of 6,62,200 tonnes of rice in all the five upazilas of the
district during the current season.
Of the total lands, 24,017 hectares were brought under Boro cultivation in
Sherpur Sadar upazila, 23,095 hectares in Nalitabari, 12,405 hectares in
Nakla, 17,666 hectares in Sreebordi and 14,598 hectares were brought under
the cultivation in Jhenaigati upazila of the district.
Due to favorable weather, farmers harvested the crops without any problem,
the DAE sources said.
Deputy Commissioner of the district Sahela Akter said use of technology,
smooth supply of high yielding seed, fertilizer and pesticides and arranging
training for the farmers enhanced the production of Boro paddy this season
