GAIBANDHA, Aug 23, 2023 (BSS) - Agriculture experts at a function here urged the farmers to produce quality seed of rice, wheat and jute using modern technology to meet its demand and to get desired output against the crops.
 
A number of dishonest traders sell substandard and adulterated seed to the farmers in attractive packages. Seeing the attractive
packages, they purchase the seeds from the unscrupulous traders at higher prices. After sowing the seed at their crops land, the farmers realized that they had been cheated, they said.
 
In this perspective, there is no alternative to produce quality seed, they added.
 
They made the comments while addressing a field day for the farmers on producing quality seed of rice, wheat and jute and preserving
those using modern technologies at Sreemukh Kashiabari village under Kishoregari union of Palashbari upazila in the district on
Tuesday afternoon.
 
Palashbari upazila agriculture office arranged the function under the
project of production, storage and distribution of high quality rice, wheat and jute seeds at farmer level through modern technology.
 
Monitoring officer of the project krishibid Saiful Islam addressed the
function as chief guest and assistant deputy director(horticulture) of the Department of Agricultural Extension krishibid Rostam Ali spoke at the event as special guest while upazila agriculture officer Fatema Kawsar Mishu presided over the function.
