JASHORE, Aug 26, 2023 (BSS) - Aman farmers of Chowgachha upazila of the district see rays of hope in continuous rain in last two days.
During the current season, Aman paddy has been cultivated in about 20,000 hectares of land in 11 unions and municipalities in the upazila of the district.
After two consecutive days of rain, the Aman farmers of Chaugachha upazila were relieved of anxiety, said Upazila Agriculture Officer Mosabbir Hussain.
Due to insufficient rainfall in month of Asharh and Shrabon this year, paddy was planted through irrigation in about eighty percent of Aman cultivation land. Irrigation activities were continued as there was no rain.
Farmers Saber Ali Sardar, Saiful Islam, Samchul Huda Dafadar, Toniraj, Sagar Khan, and Ishaq Ali Dafadar of Sinhajhuli village said that the rain in Bhadra month is beneficial for cultivation of Aman rice.
Nurul Islam, Abdul Latif Pandit, Aman farmer of Ramkrishmpur village of the upazila said that the current rainfall has changed the appearance of Aman paddy in the field.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Mosabbir Hussain said that the farmers were worried about the cultivation of Aman paddy due to low less rainfall in Asharh and Shrabon months. Farmers will benefits from continuous rains.
