JHENAIDAH, Oct 19, 2023 (BSS) - A total of 15,970 small and marginal farmers in Sadar upazila of the district will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agriculture incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation program for the cultivation of various crops including wheat, maize, mustard, sunflower, groundnut, onion and lentil in the current Rabi season.

To increase the interest of farmers in wheat, maize, mustard, sunflower, groundnut, onion, and lentil cultivation, the amount of incentive support and the number of farmers have been increased significantly in the financial year 2023-24 in the district, Additional Deputy Director of Department Agriculture Extension (DAE) Salim Reza said.

Training Officer of the Department Agriculture Extension (DAE) of the District Mosharraf Hossain inaugurated the distribution function and handed over the agriculture incentive to some farmers as the chief guest, held on the upazila office premises this morning under the initiative of DAE with Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sadia Zerin in the chair.

Additional Deputy Director of the DAE Salim Reza and Sadar Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Muhammad Junaid Habib were present as the special guests.

Additional Deputy Director of Department Agriculture Extension (DAE) Salim Reza said that each farmer will give one kg of mustard seeds, 10 kgs of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and 10 kgs of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost among 15,970 farmers for mustard cultivation one bigha of land.

Rest of the seeds and fertilizers will be distributed among the farmers in the next seven days, he said.
