JHENAIDAH, Oct 31, 2023 (BSS) - A total of 700 small and marginal farmers in Sadar upazila of the district were given seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agriculture incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation programme for the cultivation of lentil in the Rabi season.

Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Razia Akhtar Chowdhury distributed the incentive among the farmers at a function held on the upazila parishad premises today.
    
Upazila Women Vice-Chairman Aarti Dutta, Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Junaid Habib, among others, were present.

To increase the interest of farmers in lentil cultivation, the amount of incentive support has been increased significantly in the district, Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Junaid Habib said.

He said that each farmer was given five kg of lentil seeds, 10 kg of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and five kg of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost for lentil cultivation on one bigha of land.
