TUNGIPARA, Gopalganj, Nov 4, 2023 (BSS) - A total of 500 small and marginal farmers in five upazilas of the district will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agriculture incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation programme for the cultivation of khesari dal in the Rabi season.

To increase the interest of farmers in khesari dal cultivation, the amount of incentive support has been increased significantly in the district, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Abdul Quader Sardar said.

He said that each farmer will get five kgs of khesari dal seeds, 10 kg of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and five kg of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost for cultivating khesari dal on one bigha of land.

Of the total beneficiaries, 120 are in Sadar upazila, 110 in Muksudpur upazila, 110 in Kashiani upazila, 80 farmers in Kotalipara upazila and 80 farmers in Tungipara upazila.

The distribution of the seeds and fertilizers will start very soon under the concerned Upazila Agriculture Office, he said.
